From April 3 to 5, the opening round of the 2026 GT World Challenge Asia season took place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Team KRC entered 2 cars, fielding a pair of brand-new BMW M4 GT3 Evo . # 89 - featuring Cunfan Ruan and American driver Neil Verhagen, competed in the Pro-Am class, while # 10 - Brian Lee and Dutch driver Maxime Oosten took part in the Silver-Am category.
In Saturday morning’s qualifying sessions, as per regulations, the two gentleman drivers, Cunfan Ruan and Brian Lee, took to the track first. However, due to setup issues, neither driver was able to secure top positions. In Q2, Neil Verhagen and Maxime Oosten adapted better to the car setup, achieving fourth place in the Pro-Am class and pole position in the Silver-Am class, respectively.
During Saturday afternoon’s first race, both cars steadily worked their way up the field, gaining several positions and collecting valuable class points. In Sunday’s second race, starting from 5th and 8th overall, the two Team KRC BMWs pushed hard throughout the race. Ultimately, the No. 89 and No. 10 cars finished 4th and 5th overall, with Brian and Maxime claiming the first Silver-Am class victory of the 2026 season.
Following the successful conclusion of the GTWCA season opener at Sepang, Team KRC will head to the Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia on May 2–3 for the next round, aiming for even stronger results.
