From April 30 to May 3, the 2nd round of the 2026 GT World Challenge Asia season took place at the Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia. Team KRC fielded its #89 and #10 BMW M4 GT3 Evo cars to compete in the Pro-Am and Silver-Am classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to a scheduling conflict, Finnish driver Jesse Krohn replaced Neil Verhagen in the #89 car for the Pro-Am class. With years of experience racing BMW machinery, Krohn quickly adapted to his first collaboration with Team KRC and demonstrated strong one-lap pace in Saturday\u2019s qualifying, securing 3rd place on the overall starting grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race 1 in Saturday, both Team KRC BMW entries faced challenges. The #10 car, driven by Brian Lee, was hit by a competitor in a high-speed corner at the start, suffering heavy damage and retiring from the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The # 89 car started with Cunfan Ruan at the wheel. In the early stages, he maintained a strong pace, stayed within track limits, and steadily improved lap times. After the pit stop, Jesse took over driving duties. He quickly brought the tires up to temperature and entered a competitive window, but was affected by differing pit strategies. A side-by-side incident in a corner led to minor contact, causing a slide and loss of positions. The car later received a drive-through penalty, ultimately finishing seventh in the Pro-Am class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday night, Team KRC worked intensively to repair the car. With support from BMW\u2019s official parts supply, the car was restored to optimal condition. Maxime Oosten started the second race, but was hit by another competitor on the opening lap, damaging the front end. Fortunately, the mechanical components remained intact, allowing the car to continue. Brian Lee then took over for the second stint and secured 3rd place in the Silver-Am class, earning a podium finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The No. 89 car was started by Jesse Krohn, but he was heavily blocked by a Porsche ahead after the lights went out, losing several positions before Turn 1. Starting on fresh tires, he remained determined and began overtaking rivals. Multiple incidents on track led to repeated safety car deployments, reducing tire wear. The team made a decisive strategy call, using warmer out-lap tires to close the gap to the cars ahead. Cunfan Ruan ultimately finished 5th overall and 4th in the Pro-Am class, bringing home valuable points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team KRC successfully completed the GT World Challenge Asia round at Mandalika. The 3rd round of the season will return to the Shanghai International Circuit, where Team KRC aims to maintain its strong performance and achieve further success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
